Goals: Reduce staff labour, increase flexibility of food offers, create a welcoming and functional space for students.

We recently completed a full restaurant design and installation for BCU, the main restaurant counters are designed for interchangeable food offers, with separate food pods to ease queuing during busy periods.

On approach, the main event draws you in, theatre cooking with a range of fresh dishes prepared in front of you. The flow of the counters brings you round to three separate pods with varied offers, where there is something for everyone.

Our in-house designers proposed seamless block effect counters with overhead gantries, lifting up the bulkhead ceiling and adding black mesh panels and new lighting to create a feature space.

Along with the main restaurant, a new Residency kitchen area awaits guest chefs providing a feature food offer for students. Alongside a new Starbucks coffee bar providing a mirrored service flow for efficiency, the chunky timber gantry creates a statement within the open atrium space, keeping the mono-block counter design throughout.

To complete the holistic design we proposed varied seating areas, using feature décor – a deep olive green paint covers half the wall and ceiling, lining up with a geometric vinyl flooring and finished with tall shelving dividers to create comfortable breakout areas for students to eat, chat and work.

CEBA and our sub-contractor team have created a destination space for students and staff at BCU, working hard to deliver and install within a short deadline.
